OUR STORY
Our artisan products start with something deeper — a commitment to dignity, culture, and collaboration.
Mayan Craft didn’t start as a business. It started as a response to injustice.
In the lakeside town of Panajachel, Guatemala, we saw artisans producing extraordinary work — belts, rugs, textiles — and earning less than what a bus ride costs. Traditions passed down through generations were being abandoned, not by choice, but by necessity. The question wasn’t “How can we sell artisan products?” but “How can we create a system that honors the people who make them?”
That’s when Albita, one of our co-founders, began sitting with weavers, leatherworkers, and embroiderers — not to instruct, but to listen. Over time, something powerful emerged: a workshop model centered on the artisans themselves. A process built on trust, respect, and upfront payment.
